Work in the Right Software
Prepare your art in the program that is best suited for the task. Illustrator® is a drawing program, ideal for logos, packaging, posters and single panel layouts. Photoshop® is a pixel based (raster) program that lets you size, color-correct and manipulate scanned images such as photographs and flat art. Neither is intended for multi-page documents. For that, use a page layout program such as QuarkXPress® or InDesign®
Start with the Best Art Possible
Despite all the advances in graphic software and printing, the adage, "garbage in, garbage out" still
applies. The better the original, the more latitude the printer has in achieving the results you want. Use photographs that exhibit the full tonal range. Don't convert a color photo to make a black and white reproduction, if a black and white original is available. Start with the best you can get because each step results in a generational loss in quality.

Copy Express, located in Lexington, Kentucky, has been in business for 32 years, is privately owned and has one location. Copy Express was started in 1980 by father and son Willard and Dan Daugherty. The company is currently owned and run by Steve Daugherty. It has grown and relocated to the current 13,000 sq. ft. facility employing 22 people. We offer typesetting and design services with in-house designers on staff. Copy Express offers a full range of printing, with 5 offset presses, 4 digital presses and cutting and bindery equipment to accommodate the presses. Copy Express has built a loyal customer base in Central Kentucky and we service clients across the United States and in the Virgin Islands. We service a broad range of customers from walk-in customers looking for graduation invitations or business cards for a small business to large corporations, businesses, churches, hospitals, high schools and colleges in central Kentucky. For our customers outside of Lexington we ship via UPS, FedEx, DHL International or utilizing various truck lines depending on the requirements of the order. Copy Express offers full service capabilities and our strength is quick printing and four color process printing. Copy Express strives for efficient and friendly service to the customer, high quality printing and quick job turnaround.
